Chantilly, VA – The International Association of Fire Chiefs (IAFC) and Envisage Technologies have launched a strategic partnership to support the IAFC’s Firefighter Near Miss Reporting System. This partnership will help maintain a safe and accessible platform where fire service personnel who have encountered dangerous situations can share their experiences online to help educate other first responders.
The IAFC developed the program in 2005 to provide an integrated learning environment that helps fire department personnel turn shared lessons learned into actions that are applied. Through the program, firefighters and EMS personnel can share their near-miss experiences in the field in a voluntary, confidential, non-punitive, and secure way. They can also find training resources gleaned from the collected real-world experiences that help responders apply lessons learned and leading safety practices in their own departments.
Lending its technical expertise and support to boost the Near Miss Reporting System is a natural fit for Envisage, which since 2001 has been building public safety software to facilitate clear communication, continuing education and comprehensive recordkeeping for fire departments and other emergency personnel. Envisage’s FirstForward® is an online platform built exclusively for fire service personnel and other first responders. A free account on FirstForward provides access to more than 700 courses, online exposure tracking, and an easy way to document training and certifications.
The company sees the Near Miss Reporting System as another valuable tool for first responders to access the information they need to enhance safety and success in the field. “Envisage supports the IAFC because of the vital work they do to lead, educate, and serve the fire and emergency service,” Envisage CEO Ari Vidali said. “We appreciate the opportunity to partner with the IAFC to help firefighters and other emergency responders protect lives, property, and their own safety.”
Envisage also welcomes the opportunity to promote the IAFC’s mission as a Five Bugle partner. Five Bugle partners are companies that support IAFC at the highest level of its Bugle Program through sponsorships and other assistance to support the fire service and its first responders. Their support helps the IAFC provide training, education, news, and member resources to advance the fire and emergency service.
